Arriving in Gran Canaria!

Posted on: 09/03/2015

Today the day finally arrived I FINALLY could leave to Gran Canaria! A 7-day vacation I won last year trough a lottery with our Belgian Cancer Foundation at their annual “day of the volunteers”

As we had to be at the airport at 4AM already and no trains are already available that early we could go to my auntie yesterday evening, who lives close to the airport, till it was time for her to drop us off.

The flight was 4 hours and went well! Since there were no movies on this short flight I spend the whole time reading a new book from the library (which is now over halfway done so luckily I have 2 more with me 😃

When arriving in Gran Canaria airport and having taken our luggage we went to the bus who was taking everyone to their own hotels!

Our hotel was the one where the most people got off the bus 😉

Immediately when we walked into the lobby we were overwhelmed with what we saw! My mom called it like a mirror castle and it was exactly that feeling! Everything was shining that you could see yourself everywhere you looked, from top to bottom 😄

After we got checked in everyone got a glass of cava at their Rose Bar as a welcome gift! Couldn’t start better than this doesn’t it 😜

After we finished our glass of cava in the amazing weather outside we went to our room to get settled in!

All of a sudden, while unpacking, one of the cleaning ladies came into our room with a bottle of cava and a plate of fruit, with compliments of the direction! (we’re thinking this might have to do with my birthday tomorrow although I don’t understand why they would do it today already and not tomorrow, we’ll see)

After we unpacked everything, enjoyed another glass of cava and got other clothes on, we decided to go exploring the neighbourhood and get some night snacks and a bottle of water as the sink water is too poison to drink from!

When we got back from the grocery store, which is down the road, we decided to explore the hotel property, which has 4 pools and at the end of the 4th one you have a promenade to the beach!

OMG THOSE VIEWS!!!!!!!!! Seriously mind-blowing like you wouldn’t believe! Even our pics we took don’t do any justice!

While walking down the promenade we ended up at a shopping center and before I knew it I already bought a new dress and 2 new bikini’s (to justify myself: it’s my birthday tomorrow so I’m allowed to treat myself a gift 😝, not to mention the bikini’s were necessary)

After the shopping and exploring we went back to our hotel where we enjoyed ourselves at our balcony enjoying the heavenly weather, until it was time to go to the restaurant to have dinner! And it was very yummy in our tummies (especially my desserts 👌)

That was it for today! Didn’t do much but that’s normal on an arrival day especially when you’re awake for over 36 hours💤

 Enjoy the pics!

Seriously wondering what tomorrow will bring for my birthday😉
